ROOTS / BOTANICAL GIN WORKSHOP

ROOTS / Grounding rituals and object that descend from customs, ideas and social behaviours.
Let Kangaroo Island Spirits lead you on a cultural gin tasting journey around the island, stopping to appreciate native Australia flora garnishes along the way.

With a focus on the land and traditional and native botanical distillates, this exclusive experience provided guests with the opportunity to discover different styles from the Kangaroo Island Spirits range. Guests were able to experiment with samples from the cellar of gins and explore combinations of tonics and garnishes, central to our Australian roots. All were provided with notes to help guide them through some suggested pairings to taste a flight of botanicals. Fresh herbs, house-dried fruits and prepared spices direct from the Island’s distillery were available to sample.
As Australia’s first dedicated craft gin distillery, Rachel from KIS led us through their family based beginnings, journey past turbulent times, and through the handmade process behind their signature flavours: Wild Gin, O Gin, Whisky Barrel Aged Gin, Mulberry Gin and Old Tom Gin.
On this collaborative journey through KIS we have discovered a local treasure - Stokes Bay Community Hall. The Stokes Bay Community Hall Fund was an integral part of the Stokes Bay and Kangaroo Island community, hosting Christmas plays, church gatherings, tennis and annual fireworks events. We shared our own Hygge contribution to this fund and created a custom Hygge floral masterpiece to auction off during the week.
